Setting the Standard

Do they comply with Overseas Standards?

Introduction

Often, the first step to doing business with a new country involves undertaking the processes necessary to Certify your Products, so that they are in compliance with the Standards set in that Country.

There is otherwise a real risk of claims by purchasers that the quality of your products are in contravention of a number of laws, including Trade Practices Legislation requiring goods to be of a merchantable quality in the dominion that they are sold and utilised.

Many laws even require products to comply with a particular "standard" prior to them being marketed.

Reducing the Risk

When undertaking any business overseas, product liability and other risks need to be minimised and dealt with promptly before doing substantive business. In Australia that process is frequently known as "complying with Australian (and, often, International) Standards".

The Key Steps

As part of the Standards Certification process, a number of key steps must be undertaken to prove that both the finished product and the underlying production processes, systems and procedures meet certain specified levels. This generally encapsulates assessment in three key areas: Product Design, Quality of Manufacturing, and Ongoing Monitoring.

Because of its extensive links and affiliation with some sixty other International Certification Bodies, Australian product certification is often seen as an attractive undertaking for both Australian and Global Business Activities.

Developing Your International Business

Undertaking the Product Certification process is an essential part of developing successful International Trade. Quality recognition is often the key starting point to establishing product awareness in a new country, as a forerunner to the establishment of business activities, agency arrangements, and subsidiary (or independent other) operations.

Rosendorff Business Consultants, in conjunction with Rosendorff Lawyers, are able to facilitate and manage your product Certification Process.
